28 May 09 Aim One Marketing’s Story

Randy Aimone started Aim One Marketing in February 2009, when he realized that there are no marketing professionals in the Hudson Valley NY region that focus their practice around how to market a product or service with less than a 6 figure advertising budget.  The question that Aim One Marketing was founded to answer is how do you market a company in the Hudson Valley if your advertising budget consists of a credit card you need to pay back at the end of the month, $43.72 in your wallet and a bit of pocket lint?

I had those same questions myself back in September of 2008 when I had started a computer services company.  So I did research, I read & listened to Seth Godin (Great concepts, but too high level to be practical), the Guerrilla Marketing books (creative tactics, but little as to the WHY and HOW you should do them) and then I found a book that came with my Marketing Plan Pro software I used in Graduate School called “Duct Tape Marketing.”   Duct Tape Marketing by John Jantch provided an organized, step by step approach to marketing for nearly any small business starting with the general why and down to the particulars of how. I found John Jantch’s Blog: with even more details of how and why.

This was great stuff.

Before I knew it, I was hooked, and I applied to be a Duct Tape Marketing Coach in December 2008.  Only then did I realize the grueling selection process that was involved for this exceptional, international group of coaches.

After months of tests, interviews, and re-re-readings of the (now falling apart) Duct Tape Marketing Book- and several other key readings for marketing in the year 2008 (The list to come later, I promise),  I was finally ready for ‘the final interview’- a nearly six hour ‘lunch’ outside Boston.  Shortly thereafter I was finally certified to use my Marketing & Entrepreneurship MBA to start teaching the Duct Tape Marketing system- and Aim One Marketing was formally launched.
